Who Cares What I'm Saying on Facebook?

I appreciate that you, my friends, family, clients, and prospects follow me on Facebook, and are discovering what I have to offer beyond other Realtors. I'm exceptional. How do I know you are paying attention or what you care about? I listen.

I work really hard to post interesting information on my Facebook Fan Page, but I wonder who is really actively listening, and to what. Real Estate is really a bell-to-belly kind of business. Yet something still draws me to use my business page as a marketing tool. It draws you too.

What do you want to know about me business wise? I listen, or watch, what you are saying and doing about my postings.  Insights is a new Facebook FanPage tool that allows me to anayze.

Insights for Green Home Realty

I see that I have 162 fans (likes), and my entire reach, or friends of friends is 68,713 people and my reach has increased 94% over the last month. So who's talking about me?  Meaning, commenting or liking, or re-posting?  5 as of today, which is actually down from 10 on Monday. Yes, I check it multiple times a week. It's like playing the stock market, it's fun. But I am listening to know what works and what doesn't. Why waste my time or yours? For the week, I reached 207 people which is a 132.8% increase over last week.

I am reaching but what is the call to action? I will say I'm glad I'm getting a response here and there, a potential new listing, and a few referrals. But ultimatley, as much as I love playing with Facebook and social media tools, this is my livlihood and I want to communicate my message so folks will choose me when they need to buy or sell.

If you look a bit closer you'll see that what people are TALKING ABOUT this week are:

1.  My new car wrap - Installing on Monday

2.  Am I worth recommending?

3.  SunAgent Press Release

4.  Paula Dean Announces Type II Diabetes

What this tells me is that nobody cares about general real estate content like market reports or legal updates. But people do care about me personally, my marketing efforts, Solar, and health (or Paula, pick one).

I'm listening to you,

are you telling your friends about me?

It is a good medium and people do listen.  I can attribute several clients from Facebook, keep it going.

It does require some patience.

Cathy - I got a buyer (past client) under contract this week by keeping up with her via birthday and Christmas cards and of course touching base every few days via Facebook on my personal page.  Facebook networking really does work!  Not the first deal that's come my way via FB.  I must admit wife and right arm Debbie keeps in touch with tons of our clients and potential clients via FB and she knows how to work the system well.  Keep on keeping on my friend it pays off.

Cathy, this post helps me put FB in somewhat of a new light... not sure I'm convinced of it's purpose, but I'll keep trying for 2012 and then decide to keep it up or not.

Good Morning, Cathy. The FB Insights tool is certainly useful information. Knowing what people are interesting in hearing gives us a whole new perspective on what we need to write and post about. Thanks for sharing.

Cathy it is nice to see the results of our hardwork sometimes. Facebook is a double edged sword sometimes but is a great tool to remind people of how much we have to offer. i love your chart, i have never taken the time to check it but i certainly will.

Facebook is a gold mine for Realtors if used properly.  Congrats on being exceptional.

John -  yes, I see your wife often, and you too. Good job!

Peggy - yes, I think it puts some meaning behind our words and posts.  I hope it does help.

Carol - glad this was of help and inspirational in some way. It takes some of the mystery out of it.

Jerry - I know you are good about friending and comment on ocassion. I'd love to see you there a bit more often, not on blogs :-)

Scott - The chart is kind of cool. I also like Klout for the same reason. It is a visual measurement.

Connie - Thanks!

The Christiansen Team - I'd love to hear some stories and tips.

Cathy, I appreciate the insights into the stats page.  I have glanced at mine as well, but I am really struggling to find a likeness and purpose for FB.  I had decided to put more into my social media efforts in 2012, but so far it is not working because ... well ... I am not working on it!  I am not sure how to change my attitude about this thing called social media!
